Northern Harvest, the company at the centre of the massive fish die-off off the south coast this summer has had its fish farm site at Broad Cove quarantined due to Infectious Salmon Anaemia.
The province’s Aquatic Animal Health Division issued the quarantine order late Tuesday.
The company is also releasing additional information on a previous ISA infection last month.
A quarantine order was placed on the Harvey Hill North site on September 11. All fish from that site have been harvested.
ISA was also detected in a single salmon sampled from the company’s Little Burdock site. The company says that site is currently empty.
ISA poses no risk to human health. Disclosure of the illness complies with new regulations established with the provincial government on September 25.
