One of the world’s greatest singers and songwriters has passed away.
Dolly Parton’s nephew Bryan Seaver confirmed her passing today at the age of 80.
Parton started her career alongside Porter Wagoner in the 1960s. Her personality, talent and songwriting ability was hard to ignore and she soon achieved superstar status.
Parton’s skills as a songwriter are evidenced in a lengthy list of hits including I Will Always Love You, Jolene, and Coat of Many Colors.
She started her acting career in 1980 in 9 to 5 with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

Parton, who influenced and inspired countless artists, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999, and her life was adapted into a Nashville musical in 2025.
Parton had been suffering with an undisclosed health issue in recent years, and speculation about her health prompted her to record a number of responses assuring the public that she was still alive and doing well.
