CUPE Local 2099 is putting pressure on Mount Pearl City Council regarding the ongoing investigation involving city manager Steve Kent.
CUPE representatives gathered outside city hall this evening to pass along the results of a survey they did of morale among city workers. They see evidence of health and safety issues and a poor mental health climate in the workplace.
Among the findings, 73 per cent of respondents say they worry complaints to management will result in repercussions or other negative retaliation, 60 per cent rated the mental health and safety climate as negative, and 48 per cent agreed that management does not treat staff with respect.
City council has gathered for what is said to be a budget meeting. However, it is rumoured that the Steve Kent situation will be addressed.
The doors to city hall were locked, however the survey was passed along to a city representative.
