Raymonds in St. John’s has been named in the Top 100 restaurants by OpenTable, an online restaurant reservation platform.
The organization released its Top 100 Restaurants in Canada, and Raymonds was the one restaurant from this province to crack the list.
OpenTable says the list is a comprehensive look at the year’s most beloved dining spots chosen from more than 500,000 verified diner reviews of over 3,000 restaurants across the country.
Restaurants are not ranked within the list, but Raymonds also received the title of best food in Atlantic Canada.
These featured restaurants are known for offering a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
Meanwhile, to complement the Top 100 list, OpenTable is also sharing their top dining trends of 2019.
OpenTable examined hundreds of thousands of reviews and says one of the most notable trends is an increase in references to plant-based foods.
That increased by 136 per cent since 2017.
Swapping out crust for cauliflower was mentioned 487 per cent more in diner reviews since 2017. Diners are also interested in trying new things according to OpenTable, as 70 per cent of reservations came from diners booking specific restaurants for the first time.
North American cuisine was the most popular for breakfast and lunch, but Italian food stayed at number one as the most popular dinner cuisine.
