A missing 12-year-old boy has been located after a nationwide amber alert was issued by Corner Brook RNC on Thursday afternoon.

RNC received a report of a parental-child abduction at around 12:25 this afternoon. The child was reportedly abducted by his father from the Corner Brook area.

Police received a tip of a possible sighting in Port Aux Basques. Port Aux Basques RCMP located the boy at 6:55 p.m., he is safe.

The father was arrested without incident on charges of parental abduction, theft of a motor vehicle and breach of a court order.

He is in custody and being transported back to Corner Brook where he will appear in provincial court on January 3.
