One person is in hospital in St. John’s and the suspect is dead after what police call a targeted shooting at a home in Grand Falls-Windsor Wednesday.
RCMP received reports of a shooting at a home on Main Street in on the Windsor side of town around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.
Responding officers found a person inside the home with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. The victim was taken to hospital and airlifted to St. John’s for “advanced medical care” and treatment.
A witness provided police with a description of the vehicle used by the suspect to leave the scene, and it was found a short time later with a person dead nearby.
Police say the death is not believed to be criminal in nature.
RCMP are not providing any additional details at this time to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, however updates will be provided as appropriate.

RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor are advising residents of an increased police presence in Windsor.
Police say an investigation is ongoing in the Main Street area and drivers and the public are being asked to avoid the area while officers conduct their work.
There is no current risk to public safety.
