Talks have resumed with Loblaws in hopes of reaching an agreement to save jobs and ensure fair pay.
Local 597’s Dominion Bargaining Committee says that this is the next step in the process of negotiations and one that they have been waiting for.
According to Unifor 597, this step means that they will not be striking.
Dominion workers talked about striking in late 2019 due to positions being cut and work being spread out across the company. Many workers felt used and felt stuck.
An agreement must be reached but first, a conciliation officer must be satisfied that no further movement can be made.
For now, the committees must wait at least 15 days after a conciliation officer files a report that both parties are at an impasse before they take action with a strike or a lockout.
