Canada Post is having problems getting the mail out and has issued several service alerts.
Eastern Newfoundland, including St. John’s, and Corner Brook are under “red” service alert. That means delivery is being suspended for the day and no agents will be sent out.
The corporation points to harsh weather: snow and wind in the west, ice in the east. Delivery will resume when conditions are safe to do so.
Stephenville and Deer Lake are under a “yellow” service alert. That means they will do their best to deliver, but can make no guarantees.
