Until further notice, the City of St. John’s will maintain its 24-hour parking ban on streets outside of the Downtown and Business District Area.
The ban was established during the state of emergency beginning on January 17 to allow for round-the-clock snowclearing.
The 24-hour Parking Ban remains in place; parking on city streets outside the Downtown & Business District area is prohibited at any time.

A decision was made by city council to maintain that ban, as crews continue the monumental task of clearing last month’s record snowfall.
Parking on city streets is prohibited, and may result in vehicles being ticketed or towed. The city says the ban will remain in effect until a further announcement is made.
Free Parking at Downtown Garages Coming to an End
Free overnight parking in downtown St. John’s parking garages will end this Friday morning at 7:00 a.m..
The City announced the free overnight parking initiative during the State of Emergency to help with parking issuers in the downtown and to move vehicles off downtown residential streets during clean up.
Parking will continue to be free all evenings from from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. at the City Hall Parking Garage, except when there is an event at the Mile One.
