Strong winds are hammering much of the island today, including the Avalon Peninsula.
Winds of about 100 km/h have been felt in the region all morning, with gusts in exposed areas expected to reach upwards of 130 km/h.
The winds are expected to die down as the day progresses, but have caused some damage along the way.
Residential drop off at Robin Hood Bay in St. John’s has been closed for the day due to the high winds.
Meanwhile, a picture posted to the NL Snowmageddon 2020 Warriors Facebook group shows a large shipping container that has blown out into the harbour.

VOCM News has reached out to Oceanex for comment in that matter.
Parts of the Centura Building in Mount Pearl have blown off which forced people to evacuate the business. Bruce Road has also been closed due to the damage.
A picture submitted to VOCM News shows what appears to be a truck completely overturned, and the trailer it was towing on its side heading east along the TCH near Sunnyside.
