The Ball government may be most remembered for not really taking its role as seriously as it should have.
That’s according to political scientist Amanda Bittner, reacting to the resignation of Premier Dwight Ball last night.
Bittner says she understands his decision. The premiership is not an easy job on a good day, and these haven’t been the province’s best days.
However, she says while the situation wasn’t always his fault many of Ball’s decisions have come into question in the last year, and raising questions about whether government appreciated the gravity of their position.
Bittner says they haven’t taken their job seriously since 2015.
She says within weeks of the election they were changing course, saying they hadn’t before understood the extent of the province’s problems, when everyone already understood the situation we were in.
