A Mary’s Harbour man is frustrated with ongoing ferry delays on the Strait of Belle Isle.
Jim Jones acknowledges it’s not the first time they’ve experienced ice delays on the ferry run.
Last week, Labrador Marine issued a news release indicating that the ferry is encountering problems getting into the St. Barbe side of the Straits due to pack ice.
An ice ridge several feet thick just outside St. Barbe is what hindered the ferry from getting into the harbour last week.
Jim Jones says years ago, to get around heavy ice, the ferry was sent to Corner Brook. He suggests now is the time to consider a similar solution.
He says a ferry to Corner Brook once or twice a week is better than no ferry at all.
