The next Liberal Leader will be named in early May as the Call for Nominations in the party’s Leadership Election process is now open.
Liberal Party President, John Allan says nominations will remain open until March 6th at noon, leaving just 12 days for those interested to enter themselves in the race.
A nomination fee of $25,000 will have to be paid to the Party by each candidate, and is payable in three installments. As well, each nomination form must come with at least 50 signatures from Liberal Party members or supporters from at least 10 districts.

The Leadership Convention will take place from May 8th to 9th, where the next Liberal Leader will be named.
Allan says the 2020 Leadership Election will follow a similar process that the party did in 2013. The voting process will be the same with one-member-one-vote using a ranked ballot. The first candidate to 20,001 points, or 50 per cent plus one vote, wins.
So far, only a few people have indicated interest in running for the Leadership, including Dr. Andrew Furey, Dean MacDonald and Paul Antle.
