The city of St. John’s has officially launched its bid process for the 2025 Canada Summer Games.
The province has had formal discussions with the Canada Games Council since March of 2018. In the fall of 2019, the provincial government and representatives of Sport NL and city officials attended a Canada Games information session.
Mayor Danny Breen says the capital city will now embark on an 11-month process to build its bid to host the 2025 Canada Summer Games.

A technical review for Phase One to assess the availability of city according to established standards will be due by May 29th, 2020.
The St. John’s bid committee will then be given until December 1st to submit a comprehensive bid proposal if the technical revue process is successful.
Corner Brook hosted the 1999 Canada Winter Games, and St. John’s hosted the 1977 Summer Games.
