New programs being offered at the College of the North Atlantic will help to meet demand created at some of the provinces new Long Term care facilities.
That’s according to Premier Dwight Ball who announced the new programs yesterday in Corner Brook along with Brian Tobin the Vice President of Academic Programs and Delivery at the College of the North Atlantic.
Premier Dwight Ball says the courses will help to address increased demand in the province’s long-term care homes.
He says 150 new jobs will be created by the new Long Term Care facility in Corner Brook alone with similar numbers in central Newfoundland.
According to government, CNA will introduce a new Advanced Care Paramedicine Program at its campuses in Stephenville and St. John’s. Until now students had to leave the province to avail of the post-diploma training.
The Prince Philip Drive campus will have 12 seats available this fall and another 12 in the fall of 2021.
Meanwhile, 116 new seats will be added to CNA’s practical nursing program, and 96 personal care attendant seats added to the college system in September.
