The Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, who is responsible for wildlife, has apologized to the House of Assembly for breaking a hunting law 2 1/2 years ago.
Gerry Byrne says regulations require a plug to be used to prevent what is usually a five round shotgun from firing any more than three rounds. He was ticketed by enforcement, and had to pay a fine of $86.
Opposition member Jim Lester wondered if Byrne was given preferential treatment given his position as cabinet minister. He asked the minister to table his receipt of payment.
