It’s going to be stormy tonight on the west coast and in parts of Labrador, but snow-weary eastern Newfoundland is contending more with wind and water this time.
The west coast gets about 15 cm of snow tonight and another few tomorrow which, unto itself, is not so bad but winds will be high, especially in the Wreckhouse. It will be blustery with reduced visibility.
Goose Bay also gets 10-15 cm tonight and another 5 cm tomorrow but winds will be in the 30-40 km/h range.
Eastern Newfoundland is in for 20-25 mm of rain, which will cause problems given the amount of snow around.
Water is becoming a factor on our highways this afternoon. RCMP on the Avalon say drivers have to be mindful of hydroplaning and with pooling water. Drivers on the highway say conditions are similar between Goobies and Clarenville, and on the south coast.
