Many people were confused over the weekend when a website they believed would be the official site for Andrew Furey’s Liberal Leadership Campaign, showed nothing more than a political meme.
When the Furey camp sent out email invites over the weekend sporting the tagline Furey2020, many people thought that would be the URL used for his campaign website.
However, users who went to either Furey2020.com or Furey2020.ca were surprised to see the sole image of PC leader Ches Crosbie, with a caption reading “ready to rock and/or roll.” A second and third image later took that one’s place.

Lorna Yard and her husband have openly taken responsibility for the site.
Yard says after receiving the emails they thought it was funny nobody had purchased the domain names, so they did it for $30 and put the picture there for a laugh.
They forgot about the site it until hearing news of Furey’s official leadership launch on Tuesday. When they checked the website logs, they couldn’t believe how many hits it had gotten.

Yard continues that it was all done in fun, and there was no malice behind it.
Yard wouldn’t give away too much, but notes they are working on some new content for the site to be released soon. She claims it is something that anyone who follows Newfoundland and Labrador politics can have a laugh at.
