Interim supply, Canopy Growth and the Coronavirus were the main subjects of debate during Question Period today.
PC Finance Critic Tony Wakeham went looking for answers about the budget and when it will be tabled. Finance Minister Tom Osborne says an announcement on the date will be coming very soon.
That raises more questions as the Premier has said he wants the new leaders stamp on the budget, although said leader will not be chosen until May 9th.
Government has introduced an Interim Supply Bill worth $4.6 billion for 6-months, something Wakeham says is almost double what is normally asked for. Osborne says that is in case the opposition tries to bring down government there is sufficient money to get through the process.
As for Canopy Growth, Minister Bernard Davis was grilled by PC Lloyd Parrott about possible shutdowns here following reports out of B.C.. Davis allayed any fears saying he confirmed with Canopy that they are full steam ahead with operations in the province.
David Brazil put more questions to Health Minister John Haggie about COVID-19 preparation. Haggie says preparedness is increasing daily and a plan is in place. He says protective equipment is stockpiled and has been distributed across the province.
The House of Assembly will re-open on Monday.
