Killick Capital is looking for people who are interested in enhancing tourism-based business in Quidi Vidi as they work to develop the historic area in the coming months.
The Barrows Road wharf has been in the process of being built for the past couple of years in hopes of developing it in a way that enhances the tourism infrastructure in Quidi Vidi. A portion of the wharf will be used for waterfront activity, similar to the Halifax Waterfront but on a smaller scale.
Valarie Copeland, senior financial analyst at Killick and business partner Joe McKenna say the plan is for a number of small stage type vendors with some food trucks and a picnic area.
McKenna says they are looking to generate interest for mobile food vendors or people interested in renting the spaces for retail.
He says there is already terrific infrastructure there now and feels this will generate more opportunities for tourists; there’s a significant flow of people in the area and this is another means of providing them a service.
McKenna hopes the area will be ready to open this summer with the season running until the end of September.
While there has been a lot of controversy surrounding adding more to the Quidi Vidi area due to congestion, McKenna says the hop-on hop-off bus service drops people off near Quidi Vidi.
