Snowmobilers are still in the process of completing one of the most extreme off-trail races where teams battle through some of the most remote areas of Labrador.
Cain’s Quest is still underway with riders arriving at checkpoints to rest and get back on the move. The 3,100-kilometre race begins and ends in Labrador City.
Steven Power—a rider on team 26, “The Wabush Boys”—says he has been a part of the race since they started and the ride is the easiest part of the whole thing. He says the logistics and preparation can be stressful so finally getting to enjoy the ride is his favourite part.
Although the route is long and sometimes unpredictable, the support keeps them going.
He says the atmosphere there is unreal, especially when the riders walk into the area and they have team shirts made to show their pride in what they are doing.
