New parking pay stations will be installed throughout the capital city this spring.
The City of St. John’s says effective immediately, they are no longer replacing damaged and broken parking meters, and all remaining meters have been removed from city streets.
During this transition period from meters to pay stations, two- and four-hour timed parking area signs are being installed in all areas that were pay-by-meter.
The City says drivers are required to obey the time limit set in each area, and the limits are in place to encourage parking turnover.
For example, if a vehicle is parked in a two-hour area at 8 a.m., the vehicle must leave the area by 10 a.m. and cannot return to the same area until two hours have passed.
