The final was a tight match that saw a 1-1 score until Gushue’s final shot of the third end that broke the tie and pushed Newfoundland and Labrador ahead 4-1. The score was 4-2 after five ends.
Team Gushue never looked back and made it 6-3 before going into the final end of play, eventually going on to win.

As per Curling Canada’s website only four players have won the Brier three times as skip: Ken Watson of Winnipeg, in 1936, 1942 and 1949; Matt Baldwin of Edmonton, in 1954, 1957 and 1958; Ron Northcott of Calgary in 1966, 1968 and 1969; and, Winnipeg’s Jeff Stoughton in 1996, 1999 and 2011. You can now add Brad Gushue to that list.
It was a spirited rematch of the 2018 Brier final, where Gushue came away with back-to-back national championships, including the one captured on home ice at the Mile One.
Bottcher fell short to Kevin Koe last year.
Team Gushue will represent Canada at the world men’s curling championship in Glasgow, Scotland from March 28th to April 5th.
Congrats Team Gushue-Brad, Mark, Brett & Geoff! #NLProud pic.twitter.com/HJyEs6jhKI
