St. John’s Regional Fire Department has issued a caution to those looking to take advantage of a substantial drop in the price of gasoline.
The department says it has seen an increase in the number of people using what it calls “substandard” containers when making bulk gasoline purchases.
Only approved gasoline containers must be used when purchasing extra fuel.
As well, according to the National Fire Code of Canada, you may not store more than 10 litres of gasoline in a dwelling, and 30 litres in a garage attached to a dwelling.
As well, gasoline must not be stored on exterior balconies.
