Officials are warning about a polar bear sighting near Tilting on Fogo Island.
RCMP are monitoring the situation and have been in communication with conservation officers.
Area residents are asked to stay at a safe distance from any polar bear they may see, and people are being encouraged to keep their pets indoors or under close supervision.
If the bear does not see you, stay calm and quietly back away. If the bear has seen or smelled you, give the animal space and a route to get away, back away, but do not urn and avoid direct eye contact with the bear.
