Volunteer Week kicks off today, and like everything these days, the way in which volunteers are being recognized has changed.
Penelope Rowe of the Community Sector Council says Volunteer Week normally includes a variety of means to celebrate and recognized the work of volunteers in Newfoundland and Labrador, but they’ll have to do things differently this year.
This year the recognition will have to be virtual, be it online or on-air.
Rowe says volunteers touch nearly every aspect of our daily lives and need to be celebrated. She suggests daily efforts to recognize the work of volunteers including daily social media posts, reach out and even post pictures in their windows.
VOCM’s Greg Smith is one of this years honorary co-chairs for Volunteer Week.
It's National Volunteer Week and we're sending #CheersToVolunteers!
All volunteers have value in our community; we're proud to thank & acknowledge the importance of their work.
