A little good news in the area of our ocean economy.

Late last week Canada’s Ocean Supercluster announced it would invest up to $35-million in a New Accelerated Ocean Solutions Program.

The Ocean Supercluster is one of five Superclusters in a program that provides funding to help grow the ocean economy.

Kendra MacDonald, CEO says they are seeing the impacts everywhere with all the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and they want to get funds into the hands of members quicker.

She says they are hoping this short term program will help get projects going as quickly as they can. She states it will give companies a program to focus on, access to innovation dollars, and continue to encourage investment at a time when it’s natural to pull back.

MacDonald says they are calling for proposals and with members across 13 sectors, she believes that there is some piece of the funding that is relevant to most sectors.
