RCMP Traffic Services has a message for drivers as we head into the summer months – slow down, plan ahead, and give yourself plenty of time to get where you’re going.

While traffic volume has dropped dramatically during the pandemic, speeding remains a serious issue.

In recent weeks, numerous tickets have been handed out, vehicles impounded, and licences suspended as the result of extreme speed on the province’s roadways.

Sergeant Matt Christie of RCMP Traffic Services in Holyrood says speed kills, and if you’re worried about being late, leave earlier.

He says the inconvenience of being late for work or a flight pales in comparison to losing your life.
