Clinical trials to test the safety and effectiveness of plasma from those who have recovered from COVID-19 as a possible treatment for those infected with the disease are now underway.
Canadian Blood Services has established a nation-wide plasma collection program with a centre located in St. John’s.

To become a donor, individuals must be younger than 67 years of age, previously confirmed positive for COVID-19 and be fully recovered and symptom-free for at least 28 days.
To participate, potential donors can register online through the Canadian Blood Services website.
