It’s gridlock in parts of the Avalon Peninsula.
There are significant traffic hangups along the Trans-Canada Highway, and throughout Holyrood this evening, which has impacted flow since this afternoon.
The closure of the TCH between the Holyrood Access and Salmonier Line is mostly to blame, but traffic in Seal Cove is also backed up. The delays are significant and involve traffic both eastbound and westbound.
Callers to the VOCM Newsroom indicate they have been caught in traffic for three to four hours, making little progress.

The Department of Transportation and Works says due to a detour around culvert work, traffic delays are anticipated.
The work is expected to be finished by Tuesday, June 2.
Detours remain in place as culverts are replaced east of Salmonier Line.
Westbound traffic delays are anticipated. Please drive cautiously and patiently. #nltraffic https://t.co/a13sxkYWDR
