Two racing-style motorcycles were seized by police following two separate incidents on the Burin Peninsula Friday.
RCMP noticed a man on the lot of a Marystown gas station behaving suspiciously. An investigation showed the 20-year-old man from Bay L’Argent had a suspended licence, owed more than $5,800 in fines, and was driving an unregistered and uninsured motorcycle.
It turns out the man has had multiple vehicle seizures since 2019. He’s being sent to court to answer to his unpaid fines and additional charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
Meanwhile, police noticed another vehicle pulling out and passing traffic at a high speed. Police recognized the driver as being suspended, but did not give chase in the interest of public safety.
The 23-year-old driver was located a short time later at a Marystown home and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in addition to a slew of other charges including driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle while suspended.
