If you see or know a paramedic, show them a little appreciation during this Paramedic Services Week.
President of the province’s Paramedic Association, Rodney Gaudet says paramedicine can be challenging at the best of times, but the last few months have been even more stressful.
Gaudet says while PPE no longer appears to be a problem, and changes to rules around their practice and protocols have leveled off, the job still carries added stresses.
He says paramedics frequently enter people’s homes where they don’t know if the caller has provided truthful information on recent travel. As a result many paramedics are wearing full PPE on all calls for their own protection.
Goudet is encouraging people to show their appreciation for the work of paramedics by giving them a thumbs up, or a smile when you see them, or put signs up in your windows.
