Discussions are underway on how and when to resume visitation at long-term care homes in the province.
Such facilities have been hard hit in other parts of the country, with the highest number of deaths due to COVID-19 being linked to seniors facilities.
Families have been doing their part to help protect the most vulnerable in society, but many admit it’s been difficult.
With no new cases in the province for nearly three weeks, some say it’s time to lift restrictions.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, says it’s something public health officials are actively considering.
She says it’s something they realize needs to be addressed. Currently, the goal is trying to find the safest way to do so, but she says they recognize the importance of visitation for the mental health of those in long-term care homes.
Dr. Fitzgerald adds it is something the department is actively looking into.
