Coast Guard officials are now reporting that three bodies have been recovered from the water in the search for four crewmen reported overdue from St. Lawrence.
The aggressive search continues for the final remaining person, with the assistance of the MCTS Placentia, CCGS W Jackman, CCGS Ann Harvey, the Oceanex Connaigra, aircraft from the Department of National Defense and Provincial Airlines, as well as Coast Guard Auxiliary members, and volunteer vessels from the community of St. Lawrence.

Regional Supervisor for Maritime Search and Rescue at the Maritime Rescue Subcentre in St. John’s, Mark Gould says the Canadian Coast Guard was made aware of an overdue vessel around 8 p.m., Monday night, and began a large-scale search at around 4:00 this morning.
They recovered the body of one crew member in the early morning hours, the second around 11 a.m., and the third was reported just after 2 p.m.
Gould says they are not in recovery mode. It’s still an active search and rescue case and will be until they’ve exhausted all possibilities or chances of survival.
Working with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax, the Coast Guard has tasked multiple aircraft and vessels to the search area and continued to search overnight.
VOCM News is tracking the story and will provide updates as they become available.
Today is a difficult one for Newfoundland and Labrador.
Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those impacted by the tragic loss and ongoing search for crew members from an overdue vessel off the coast of St. Lawrence.
