A 31-year-old man who was arrested on Thursday for impaired driving and escaping lawful custody is now facing additional charges.
Twillingate RCMP responded to a report of a suspected drunk driver at 1:15 a.m. in Summerford. The vehicle was located, and the driver was arrested.
The driver then escaped the officer and fled on foot. Police searched the area through the night and could not locate him.
In the meantime, police impounded his truck.
The next day at around 11:00 a.m., the driver turned himself in. He is facing charges of impaired driving, resisting arrest, being unlawfully at large and breach of an undertaking.
He is set to appear in court on September 1.
