The newest confirmed case of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador is linked to travel. That, according to a spokesperson with the provincial government.
Public health officials say a man in the Eastern Health region—between the ages of 40 and 49—has tested positive for the virus.

Contact tracing is underway. Officials say everyone considered a close contact will be advised to quarantine.
Today’s update marks the end of a 20-day streak with no newly-identified cases in Newfoundland and Labrador. The last positive case was identified on Thursday, May 7.
The total number of cases now lies at 261. There are three active cases of the virus—two people are recovering at home, and one is in the ICU.
