Dr. Proton Rahman, a clinical scientist and Professor of Medicine at Memorial University, will join government’s COVID-19 update again this afternoon.
On Wednesday, Premier Dwight Ball said Dr. Rahman, who has prepared and presented COVID-19 modelling projections for the province, will deliver more projections as the province gears up to move into Alert Level three on June 8th.
Government is now doing updates just three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
One new case of COVID-19, a man in his 40s in the Eastern Health region, was announced on Thursday, snapping Newfoundland and Labrador’s 20-day streak of no new cases.
The Department of Health says the new case is linked to travel.
Three active cases remain with one in hospital and two recovering at home.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, Premier Dwight Ball, Health Minister John Haggie and Dr. Proton Rahman will update the province at 2:00 p.m.
