A 24-year-old from Gambo is facing charges after fleeing from police on an ATV.
Nicholas Maher has been charged with flight from police and is without his ATV after Glovertown RCMP seized it when he failed to stop for police in Gambo on Thursday, May 21st.
Just after 2:30 p.m., police noticed an ATV travelling at a high rate of speed on JR Smallwood Boulevard. Police attempted to stop the ATV, but the driver fled onto a trail.
He did the same thing when police spotted him for the second time in the area.
The officer then patrolled the trail on foot, where he found the ATV and driver.
Maher was arrested for flight from police, and ticketed for operating an ATV without insurance and operating an ATV on a highway. Police seized and impounded the vehicle.
He was released to appear in court in August.
