The MHA for Corner Brook says after five long years, tenders will soon be called for needed renovations to the pool at Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus.
The pool was closed to the public on December 1st of 2015, leaving the West Coast city with no pool facilities.
Gerry Byrne says the provincial government is contributing $9.3-million in funding towards the $24.7-million renovation project.
The federal government and area municipalities are also contributing towards the joint funding needed for the regional project, according to Byrne.
He credits the new VP of Grenfell Campus, Jeff Keshen and Corner Brook Mayor Jim Parsons for working with the federal and provincial governments on making the renovations a reality.
