The tourism industry, hit hard by travel restrictions due to COVID-19 are planning ways to reopen for the summer.
Steve Denty of Hospitality NL says residents are eager to get out for staycations and the industry is working to ensure that recreational and visitor experiences are safe and enjoyable.
The industry got an infusion of $25-million in bridge funding from the provincial government, which Denty says is a help.
Health Officials Working on Staycation Recommendations
When it comes to staycations and traveling around the province, health officials are recommending staying as close to home as possible for the time-being.
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says if you do travel within the province it is recommended that you stay within your bubble.
Dr. Fitzgerald says as Newfoundland and Labrador moves into Alert Level 3, the province will be making recommendations about how staycations will work this summer.
