The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health is not too pleased with the flaunting of COVID restrictions she observed last weekend in some bars and nightclubs.
The businesses opened last weekend for the first time since the pandemic struck. People flocked to their favourite clubs, leading to reports that social distancing and other restrictions were not being followed in some cases.
That left Dr. Janice Fitzgerald “deeply concerned” about some of the choices being made.
She says significant outbreaks in other jurisdictions have been linked to settings involving large crowds, singing and shouting.
Fitzgerald told reporters yesterday that public health restrictions surrounding social distancing and smaller gatherings have proved effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
