A local farmer and member of the official Opposition says he’s glad government has “finally come to its senses.”
Jim Lester was responding to government changes that allow farmers more options to address damage caused by moose munching crops at night.
A special permit is now available to allow farmers to shoot problem moose at night.
Information can be obtained through contact with a farmer’s local Agriculture Development Officer.
The regulations were amended after extensive review.
Lester says it’s something that farmers and the Opposition have been calling for.
Minister Gerry Byrne last fall accused Lester of condoning poaching when advocating for a farmer’s right to protect their crops.
