The federal government is giving Newfoundland and Labrador $770,000 to establish car charging stations across the province. The announcement came today at Hydro Place in St. John’s.
The provincial government is putting $1-million towards the purchase and installation of some 28 electric vehicle chargers across the island.
Currently, there is limited infrastructure available for public use, particularly outside the metro region.
Today’s announcement will help build a charging network along the TCH between St. John’s and Port aux Basques as well as Gros Morne National Park. Fourteen sites will contain both a fast charger and a Level 2 charger.
Construction starts in September.
