The province will hire 25 more guidance counsellors, 25 extra custodians and 15 new school administrators in addition to the purchase of PPE and measures as classes are set to resume after Labour Day.
Today’s announcement comes as a result of $2 billion dollars in federal funding for provinces and territories to ensure a safe return to school.
Newfoundland and Labrador’s share is just over $26 million dollars that will be split into two $13 million dollar installments.
Education Minister Tom Osborne made the announcement this afternoon.
