There’s a growing sentiment for some changes regarding the rules in Newfoundland and Labrador for rotational workers.
Currently, they are required to self-isolate for 14 days upon their return to the province but that’s tough on them and their families. The rules differ among the four bubble provinces, leaving workers confused as to the rationale. Government says it is looking at making some changes.
A petition has been launched to persuade government to at least look at alternatives to bring the province in line with other Atlantic Provinces.
Kimberly Penney of Fleur de Lys doesn’t have to self-isolate but her husband, who works abroad, does.
She understands the concerns with workers returning to the province but wonders why this province doesn’t do as PEI does – test the worker upon return, then test in another seven days.
