The union representing striking Dominion workers is planning a live virtual rally from picket lines across the province on Monday.
Unifor’s Atlantic regional director, Linda McNeil, says hundreds of grocery workers are standing up to parent company Loblaws. McNeil referenced a recent video message to Loblaws owner Galen Weston from “Cherie,” a bakery worker who became emotional when describing how much she loves her job, noting she would probably make more money if she were on social assistance.
The woman admitted she’s making $12 more a week from strike pay than she would on her regular wages, something she calls “sad.”
The Facebook live rally will take place Monday at 11 a.m. on Unifor’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=308728246888059
