A 27-year-old Upper Island Cove man has been charged with numerous offences after reports that he was wielding an axe and causing damage Friday evening.
Bay Roberts RCMP were called around 6:30 Friday about an intoxicated man causing a disturbance and damage to property.
Police say Kyle Mercer left the scene before they arrived on the scene, but he was located a short distance away.
Mercer appeared in court today on charges of impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, damage to property and uttering threats.
He was released on conditions pending his next court appearance.
