There’s a meeting tonight in Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove to consider rezoning a tract of land which has become the subject of a petition – and perhaps some misunderstanding.
There’s an application before council to rezone a small portion of #2-44 Marine Lab Road to allow for the construction of a single-family dwelling. The local development association says people use the land for hiking, berry picking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing etc. However, council says it has not received any request from the owner to use the land for recreational purposes.
The residential usage proposal takes in about 10 per cent of the parcel.
Meanwhile, council says there has been no consideration or discussion by the town to purchase or maintain the property. That would be a significant financial undertaking.
The initial call saw only one out of 15 responses opposed. Tonight’s Zoom meeting starts at 7:00 to further discuss the matter.
