The president of Carpenters’ Union Local 579 is accusing the Minister of Labour of “washing his hands” of a recent privacy breach involving the Labour Relations Board.
The names of Grieg NL workers interested in joining a union were revealed in an email. The union says some of those workers have since been let go.
The union is looking for answers, and Local President Mike Williams says he’s very disappointed with Gerry Byrne, who took over the portfolio just a few weeks ago.
Even though the matter comes under the minister’s watch, Williams says Byrne claims he has nothing to do with it.
