PC Leader Ches Crosbie says Premier Andrew Furey is sending strong signals that he doesn’t have what it takes to make the tough decisions as leader of the province.
Crosbie was referring specifically to Furey’s handling of Charles Bown’s appointment as CEO of the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board, which comes with a salary of almost $180,000.
The final report of the Muskrat Falls Inquiry was highly critical of Bown’s involvement in the project, with Justice Richard LeBlanc describing his failure to report critical information as “inexcusable.”
Crosbie says he would have terminated Bown, saying what’s right is right, and let the legal chips fall where they may.
He says not firing Bown is a signal that the new premier condones Bown’s actions.
